    GENERAL SESSION

    TOPIC: TECHNOLOGY & AI

Much of the focus on technology within the Structural Steel industry has been focused on automation and robotics for the shop floor. However, there are significant advances taking place in other parts of our business that have the potential to dramatically change areas that have received less attention.

Sketchdeck.ai is a technology startup that uses AI to scan design drawings and generate bills of material for estimating in a fraction of the time required for manual takeoffs. Daniel Kamau, the founder of Sketchdeck.ai, will explain how the software works, how it “learns” to recognize more details for improved accuracy, and how it integrates with Tekla Powerfab. He will also share real-world success stories from companies like Ennis Steel, discuss practical applications of AI in fabrication, and offer insights into how fabricators can implement AI to boost efficiency and stay competitive.

The second part of the program will be a presentation from Fabstation on their Hololens technology that can be used for quality checks on completed assemblies. Fabstation uses the 3D model to validate the correct location of parts within a 1/16” inch, simplifying the QC process and reducing the likelihood that fabrication errors make it to the job site.

CFA members are encouraged to bring a flash drive with drawings that Dan from Sketchdeck can use for a live demo of his software after the general session presentation.

    SPEAKERS:

Daniel Kamau, Founder and Chief Evangelist SketchDeck.AI

Randolph Warnaar, Founder / CEO | FABSTATION

    SPONSOR DINNER & RECEPTION

    The Buckhorn Exchange
    1000 Osage St.
    Denver, CO 80204
    303-534-9505

We’ve bought out The Buckhorn Exchange – Denver’s oldest restaurant!

In 1875, at age 10, wide-eyed Zietz met Col. William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody and by age 12 was a full-fledged member of his hard-riding, straight-shooting band of scouts.  During those years, the great Indian leader, Chief Sitting Bull, dubbed Zietz "Shorty Scout," in reference to his diminutive stature.

Zietz, Sitting Bull and Cody became lifelong friends and by the time Zietz died in July 1949, the last of Cody's famous scout band was gone.  But the memories and legends from those early days linger today at 1000 Osage St. where the Buckhorn Exchange Restaurant keeps the spirit of the Old West alive.

You get the idea – it’s going to be a “YEE HAH” kind of night!

    Transportation is on your own.
